I was adopted as a baby and grew up with loving parents, who raised me to help others. Our family values were to help those in need. I was raised in Zambia and our home was always known as an open house where any child could come and have a meal, have a chat and feel comfortable. On our daily school runs, we collected kids who had to walk along the way, we had a combi, and we always ended up with more kids than we left home with.
I’m very hands-on and focused on grassroots involvement. I work directly with organisations such as Ikholwa Hope for Our Children, Charity Begins With Me, Abraham Children’s Home, Mamello Informal Community, Teddy Bear Clinic, STINT, Windsor Baby Sanctuary, and Hospice Milpark, helping with food initiatives, clothing, sourcing educational resources, and practical community support.
No, giving back has always been part of our family life. I’ve taught my kids to be hustlers and guided them to support and make a difference. Now, as adults, they continue to work closely with various charities in their own right.
Real change happens at a micro-level. I prefer to work directly with people and organisations where I can see the impact directly and know the help is reaching those who truly need it. I will support any charity that helps children survive, get educated and onto the right path for their future lives. No one deserves to be hungry, cold or uneducated.
